Similar to the Breville Smart Oven, but in a smaller, more compact design, this 1800-watt oven offers exceptional cooking convenience while taking up less space on the counter. The unit’s 3/5-cubic-foot nonstick interior can accommodate a 12-inch pizza or four slices of bread at a time, while its push-button and turn-knob control panel makes it easy to program. Turn the control dial to select the function–options include Toast, Bagel, Bake, Roast, Broil, Pizza, Cookies, and Reheat. The oven’s Element IQ “smart” sensor technology puts the power where it’s needed most to ensure energy-efficient operation. For each of the eight pre-set functions, Element IQ automatically adjusts the power and calculates the cooking time. The time and temperature for the pre-set programs can also be manually adjusted to accommodate individual preferences–the oven will even remember the new settings for next time. Use the second control dial for setting the time (from one minute up to two hours) and for adjusting the temperature (from 120 to 450 degrees F), as well as for selecting the number of slices and for setting the toast shade, from light to dark. The control panel also offers a large start/cancel button, a defrost button for frozen foods, and a temperature-conversion button for recipes with cooking temperatures in Celsius. The oven’s easy-to-read backlit LCD screen shows the current function, temperature, and adjustments made–plus it illuminates orange to indicate preheating and cooking, then blue to indicate the end of the cooking cycle. Other highlights include a tempered-glass door, three rack positions, and a front-access removable crumb tray for quick cleanup. Accessories include a 10-by-10-inch enamel baking pan and a 10-by-10-inch enamel broil rack. Attractively housed in coated steel with a strikingly modern design, the countertop oven measures 16-1/2 by 14-1/4 by 10 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Hesitant to purchase, but glad I did
I was hesitant to spend this much for a toaster oven, but I am so glad I did. It is much more versatile than a cheap toaster oven, which it replaced. As others have said, the top gets extremely hot. Most recommended a bamboo cutting board to go on top. Instead of spending $40 for the Breville brand cutting board, I purchased an Empune brand X-large (16×10) and it fit perfectly for less than half the price of the brand name board.My first pizza turned out slightly burned around the edges, but the time and temp is adjustable for this setting, so I adjusted it and it is much better. My only other complaint so far is the beep, when it it finished preheating or finished cooking, is not very loud at all. In fact, I can’t hear it unless I’m standing directly in front of the oven.Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase. I have not used some of the features yet, such as cookies and reheat. Aside from the few imperfections, I believe it is well worth the price paid for it. Like most busy families, we cook a lot of frozen or pre-prepared meals. This oven makes it much more convenient. The times and temp for each preset function are adjustable so you can set it up to your liking. We’ve used it so much that I am considering getting the Breville Mini for the RV.

LOVE this oven!
Upon learning the negative health effects of microwave ovens, we decided to get rid of ours and hoped that this Breville would take up all the functions of our microwave. We’ve been using it for a year now daily, and have been delighted with its quality and function! It seems these days that many small appliances are built to break down and need replacing, and that was true of our last counter top oven. But I researched deeply and am so glad I tried out this brand as it lives up to its claims to be a great small oven! We mostly use it to: toast bread daily, heat up leftovers, melt cheese, cook smaller meals (roasting and baking work great!). The oven itself is (refreshingly) high quality stainless steel, as is the pan and broiler pan that fit in the oven. I use the main pan every day, and it still cleans easily with mild soaking. I find the functions of the oven easy to navigate. My husband and I are of retirement age, this oven is the perfect size for our needs. I often will roast a large amount of vegetables and meats in the oven once a week, and/or stir fry or boil on the stove, then use this oven daily to reheat for each meal. When I want to cook for one or two meals, this oven is perfect to use instead of the big oven. The crumb tray is stainless, doesn’t stain, and is easy to clean. This oven cost more than other ovens but is well worth the price. I hope the company keeps up the quality of this product for years to come. Highly recommend.

UPDATE : Nearly two years old and used every single day and we are just as pleased as the day it first arrived. There are some reviews which claim it wouldn’t last 6 months or a year, well the Breville unit we received is rapidly approaching its second birthday.Actually, with this unit, we use our regular oven less and less. I like the way this unit cooks but I really like the way it reheats food. Where a Microwave will warm food much faster, it also tends to make some meats “rubbery”. Not the Breville toaster oven, it warms the food through uniformly and doesn’t “change it” the microwaves can. This oven is also very good for crisping things like french fries, breads, etc. Whether its as simple as heating up my wife’s daily raspberry Pop tarts or baking cookies or making bread, this oven has done it all. Very good for pizza’s as well……..We have cooked a wide range of items in this oven and it’s used at least once everyday. Does my two years of use change my rating of this unit? No, I still rate it very highly and we are very happy with this toaster oven. We have even bought others this same toaster oven as a gift and they have indicated they are pleased with it.——————————————————————————————————————————————- ordered this as a surprise for my wife. Her last toaster oven recently went to the appliance yard in the sky and she had mentioned that she wanted another toaster oven, but not a cheapie that are sold at the local stores.After research, I found this Breville Compact Smart Oven and ordered it as a surprise for my wife. Imagine her surprise when it arrived, only to be immediately followed by disappointment that there was damage to the shipping box and it transferred to damage to the oven right in the center of the rear and top of the oven. I contacted Amazon immediately and they shipped a replacement which we had in just a few days. I returned the damaged oven the same day i received it. The return process couldn’t have been easier.My wife is very pleased with this oven’s consistency and it’s ease of use. It’s also a very good looking appliance. We were in Best Buy recently and they had the same oven at a price $90 higher than what I paid Amazon.Check out the plug on the cord, another indication that Breville is paying attention to how their product is actually used. Impressive.The oven is well made, is an attractive appliance and has the look, feel and function of a quality appliance. We have now used it for about a month and my wife uses it now instead of the big oven for many meals. This is one of those purchases which I looked forward to receiving and am now glad I spent the money. This is heads and shoulders above a Black and Decker or other similar low price point toaster oven. The size is also perfect to be left out on the counter in the corner where my wife wanted it kept.If I could, I would give this 6 stars. Well, in a way, I guess I can ******…..

Versatility a plus
Never used a toaster oven before but when toaster gave up the ghost, decided to try. Assembly ok but difficult to get out of the many boxes due to tight fit.Look is nice, instructions took some getting used to. Roasting, toasting work well, haven’t tried.pizza setting. Heed warning that oven gets hot- don’t let kids around the oven!

Toaster Awesomeness – 3 YEAR REVIEW
I have had a lot of toasters, but this one really has some great features. Broil high and low, toasting, bake, convection, bagel, and what else can I say. Breville makes a nice toaster. It will fit a small round Tombstone or similar pizza, which is sweet. I have 2 of these toasters. One is 3 years old and the other almost a year. Usually, the temperature setting’s get wonky after a few years, but I haven’t seen that yet. There is a nice pullout at the bottom for crumbs. I am still able to clean the glass. Good temperature control on these units, running a little bit warmer than the setting display by 10 degrees. It’s also not a huge toaster and fits nicely on the counter at 15″Deep 16″ Wide and about 10″ high, to its furthest points. INTERIOR dimensions are different at 12″ X 12″. 4.25″ high. The dials are easy to learn.

I’ve been debating over which brand and model of Toaster Oven to purchase for quite some time and I settled on the Breville Compact which I am totally pleased with, for various reasons.- I don’t have a lot of counter space and I liked the idea of the cutting board which fits very nicely on the top.- I liked the look and colour of it and it seems at home under the corner cabinet in my kitchen which enables me to pull it forward when in use.- I wanted one that I can increase the cooking time for, if needed, without having to wait to the minutes to run out.- The settings are simple to operate and the front pull-out crumb tray is convenient to empty.- it makes great toast.As far as the temperature, I’ve used it almost every day and have cooked several casseroles, impossible pies, fries and baked potatoes and made broiled sandwiches and so far, unlike others I notice absolutely nothing untoward….infact it roasts or bakes far quicker than my oven especially considering that it preheats in a matter of a couple minutes. If a recipe tells me to bake something for 25 minutes and my Breville does so in 25 minutes, then what the actual temp reading is for the entire period of that 25 minutes is not an issue to me.

The best toaster oven I’ve ever had. It has a display that lights up with clear & concise big numbers. The knobs feel sturdy. It definitely is a smart oven, as I’ve been able to use it to toast, roast, broil, bake, reheat (esp pizzas)! Very uniform heating – my toasts are only one shade of brown throughout, which I’ve never had before. It’s definitely worth the price, as I expect to use this oven for years and years to come.

This is our 2nd purchase of this model. The dimensions are perfect for a small home with limited counter top space. Our last one lasted about 8 years with very regular use including roasting small chickens. Ultimately, some of the settings stopped working but even then we used other ones to compensate. Gave 4 stars for ease to clean because stainless steel is never easy to clean really. Great product! Hope they don’t discontinue this one. We own several Breville products and they all seem to be of this quality.
