**Blink Sync Module XR Review**If you’re already using Blink cameras, the Blink Sync Module XR is a solid addition to your setup. It’s designed to extend the range and improve connectivity for your cameras, which is great if you’ve got cameras a bit farther from your Wi-Fi router or are covering a large property. Here’s my take on its main perks and a few minor drawbacks.### Pros1. **Better Range**: The “XR” stands for “extended range,” and it lives up to that name. I noticed a big difference in connectivity, especially with cameras I’d placed farther out in the yard. No more spotty connections or missed motion events.2. **Battery Boost**: One of the best things about the XR is how it helps with battery life. Cameras stay connected more efficiently, which means batteries last longer. This is a lifesaver if you’re tired of changing batteries frequently, especially on outdoor cameras.3. **Simple Setup**: Like other Blink products, setting up the Sync Module XR is really straightforward. You just plug it in, link it through the Blink app, and you’re good to go. The app itself is easy to use for watching feeds, managing settings, and checking recordings.4. **Local Storage Option**: Finally, Blink lets you add local storage with the XR! Just plug in a USB drive, and you can store clips directly without needing to pay for cloud storage. For privacy-conscious folks or those looking to save a few bucks, this is a huge plus.5. **Convenient Remote Access**: The Blink app makes it easy to check in on things when you’re away. You can watch live feeds, get alerts, and adjust settings from anywhere.### Cons1. **Only Works with Blink Cameras**: If you’ve got a mixed brand setup, this module isn’t for you. The Sync Module XR only connects with Blink cameras, and not even every single Blink model works. So double-check your cameras to make sure they’re compatible.2. **Limited Without a Subscription**: While the XR lets you add local storage, some features like extended cloud recording and more clip options still require a subscription. Not a dealbreaker, but something to keep in mind.3. **Not Packed with Advanced Features**: The XR does a good job at the basics, but it’s pretty light on advanced extras. There’s no AI detection or high-end video analytics, so if you’re looking for really advanced security features, you might be left wanting more.### Final ThoughtsOverall, the Blink Sync Module XR is a solid buy if you’re already in the Blink ecosystem. It’s reliable, extends range, saves battery life, and even gives you local storage. While it’s not loaded with all the bells and whistles, it’s perfect for someone who wants a simple, effective way to improve their Blink setup.

Love my Blink system.
These are very valuable, they have excellent range, the video quality is competitive, they are easy to install, but i wish the battery life was a bit longer. The white cameras are bright and stand out, the black blends well.

Correction to prior post identified as – Unit failed day 2?
Updating my previous review, I determined the loss of connection was because I did not properly mount cameras and they fell off the surface where I initially placed them. I am impressed by the extended range. Distance is at the edge of what is advertised and they operate well. I do recommend this product if you want to keep an eye on things.

Warning to older locked in benefit’s- blink accounts
They have the ability to provide you with a decent product. And if you’re like me you have been a customer since the very beginning and were locked in with decent features and cloud storage. Before their brand changed. Well. That changed. Some how my email was “purged” from their system and the refuse to recover it. They try and force you to have a subscription if I want any type of benefits having these cameras. The whole reason I went with them in the beginning was because I liked the company then. Now. Not so much. They’ve changed for the worst. They do have a slot for micro SD storage, which I am doing. But they dumb your system down so much- videos lag, they’re not in order when uploading, and I know good and well it doesn’t have to be that way. They do it to try and force you into their subscriptions. Which are costly. The whole reason we avoided the ring system in the first place. If you’re someone with an older account and locked in benefits- My advice to you is get a new sync module- before they block you out of your old one and prevent it from updating and try to play it off like it’s your email account. It’s not. Do not contact them. Just buy a new module. Set it up yourself. Don’t let them purge your account too.

Works Well. Handles rain and snow well
I had the home system of blink and liked pretty well (if you don’t want a subscription you can have the system put your video on a stand alone hard drive). I used Ring before the Blink system. I wanted a camera on my drive way and my dock. I didn’t measure the distance but I think I am easily 150 ft away from the indoor base. Works well. No issues with the weather, or battery life.

Works Great With Extender!
Purchased this for our rural property recently.Set up was very easy. I have Ring system on the house but Ring doesn’t offer the extended range for the cameras so I went with BLINK. I definitely have maxed out the range as the gate is about 400 ft from the house give or take a few ft. Video clarity is excellent even at night. Due to the distance there is a slight delay but the audio is excellent compared to my Ring doorbell which is wired to the house.I don’t know if the distance and/or quality will decrease if I add more cameras but this is working excellent so far. We’ll see about battery life and toughness in the weather here in the coming months. Oh and it comes with 2 lithium batteries. Energizer not some cheap ones.

Great security camera system for the money
I have purchased these blink camera system a few times. I have been using blink for about 10 years plus. They are high quality security cameras with a long battery life. The camera picture resolution is very good and I’m able to store the video footage on the module itself. I am very happy with the connectivity. And very happy with customer support. One of the cameras that I purchased the back cover of the video camera broke. Customer service replaced it very quickly. I also purchased the battery extension pack that makes the camera last for at least 2 years without a battery change. At this point, I have had no issues with camera quality, video quality, video retention, and easy to use application for iPads and Androids. I recommend Blink to anyone needing a quality security camera system for their home.
